J-D high

After I left your funeral a lot of things got in the way of my remembering. I was busy, I made myself busy, etc. Time passed. Wonderful things happened that I would have talked to you about and horrible things. Falling in love and terrorism and new jobs and bad jokes. And a couple of years later here I am. How can I not think of you? I remember you used to brag about Jamesville-Dewitt sports teams, and tell endless, boring stories about “Caz”. These were places I never had been and may as well have been in some other country. And a couple of years later… here I am. I’m a Jesuit novice living – of course – in Dewitt. Spending a day each week – yes – at Cazenovia. This summer I was out on a boat in the middle of the lake thinking, “Kara grew up on this lake. She may have even learned to swim here.” Thoughts of you are everywhere. I have been meaning to call your family, to maybe try to have dinner with them. But you know, things get in the way of my remembering
