A Sunshine Day

I treasure the times that I get to log onto the computer and go to this site...because they are not often. Today is the Saturday between F and G weeks of camp (i'm actually not even sure of the date because my summer is strictly run by lettered weeks). I am missing Kara more than usual today so I decided to go somewhere that I would be connected to all of you. For some reason the message from Grant caught my eye and that was the one that I read first. Immediately that message brought a smile to my face because I was taken back to that summer when Kara and Grant were my counselors in cabin Kimber. We were senior 2 girls and of course thought we were extremly cool. To this day I still refer to that week as my favorite in my history of being a camper at CSM. Grant won us all over because he told us stories at night and let us do pull up's from the rafters. And Kara was the exuberant source of energy that filled our cabin. She was a role model for 14 and 15 year old girls to look to for inspiration. She made the boring old tennis court into the coolest place to go and hang out during rest hour. For some reason I was always the only one awake when she would come back from her "nightly meetings" at midnight and she would come over and sit on my bunk and talk to me for a little while....making me feel loved. One thing I remember most about that cabin was the fact that we played "A Sunshine Day" from the Brady Bunch soundtrack 96 times throughout the week. At the time I might not have been able to see the appropriateness, but it's clear to me know. Kara made each and every day a bright and sunny one for the 12 of us in that cabin. I will always be grateful to her and Grant for giving me the best week of my (camper)life that week. To each and every one of you...know that she is sending a little sunshine down your way today. I love you Kara. Christine
