As the 15th approaches, I've been coming back to this site more often. I realized I never posted a message about Kara's new neice. Monica Grace Hood was born this summer on August 16, 2006. It was a very difficult pregnancy, with Maureen going on bed rest for five weeks, and several scares and nervous ultrasounds. Monica was tiny when she was born, just over 4 lbs, and she still wouldn't set any records for size or weight, but she is doing fantastic. I like to believe that once again Kara was our advocate and angel helping bring Monica to us. Life with three kids is crazy, and I have no idea how my parents had four, but we cannot imagine life without Monica. Having new life in our family has been wonderful, but I've come to realize that nothing will fill the void in our lives our in my heart. I've come to dread the middle of January. Each year it's like being punched in the gut all over again. Kara would have been such a great Aunt. My tears come so quickly and freely when I think about all that we lost and all that could have been. I miss you, Kara. I'll put a picture of Monica in the family section.
