running through Brooklyn
Jean and I are in NYC this weekend to watch Emily run the NYC Marathon on Sunday. Emily and Josh have a great apartment; it was neat to see her in her classroom with her students; and she lead us on a walk over part of the marathon course today. It's a perfect weekend to enjoy New York; fall activities in Central Park; and the joy of being with our daughter. As I walked with Luca behind Jean and Emily, I had the feeling that Kara was with me...helping me to deal with missing her...encouraging us to hang in there...letting me know that she'd be with Emily during the race, especially as she is running through Brooklyn. Kara would be very proud and happy for Emily, teaching, living, and enjoying the city. And that's the best tribute Emily could pay to Kara. I'm just grateful and proud to be their dad. Vanessa will be joining us to watch Emily on Sunday. We all agreee there is no chanch that Kara would ever be up for running the entire marathon, but she'll be with us as we celebrate tomorrow night! I love the girls.
