A New Niece! | |
We have wonderful news to share. We got the long awaited phone call that our daughter is coming home to us tomorrow. Madeline Hyeon Ah Yoon Hood was born October 8, 2003 in Seoul, Korea. Tomorrow is our "Gotcha Day" a day that we always celebrate and remember. We fly to JFK airport to meet our precious child for the first time and bring her home. We are beyond overjoyed to welcome Maddie into our family. I like to think that Kara helped speed along the adoption process, with Maddie coming one day before her birthday (the babies in the Love the Children adoption program only come on weekdays, so this is as close as she could get). Like so much of our lives these past few years we are feeling deep joy mixed with deep sadness. I feel so sad for our daughter that she will never hear Kara's voice, or her playful laugh. She will have to get to know her Aunt Kara through stories and pictures, much as Aidan is. It is a broken world we live in, with so much goodness and so much sorrow. Even this incredible gift and blessing of adoption, of Madeline in our lives, had its beginnings in heartache and loss. I am happy to say that right now the joy is far outweighing the sorrow. I choose to believe that Kara is still present in our lives, and maybe even flying over the Pacific right now in the plane next to Madeline, whispering words of comfort and love. A birthday gift for us. I promise to post pictures of Maddie and a story in the family section of this site soon, so keep checking and keep in touch. Love, Chris | |
