| Ten Years Later | |
| Dear FAMily, On this unavoidably sad day, I am nonetheless filled with so many happy memories of times spent with a truly wonderful human being. So many reunions at Caz and Keuka, with every form of water and land activity known to mankind. Water skiing, wake boarding, swim races, sunfish sailing and wind surfing until we all turned into prunes. Endless hours at the end of the dock to see who could catch the first, and then the most, of some of the smallest fish you have ever seen. Volley ball, frisbee, softball games, tag and perilous rides in tree-hung swings in the back yard. Games of hide and seek (often with dogs) that lasted so long you could stop and have lunch and no one noticed. Card games and board games with rules that changed each time we played....with a designated snack boy to keep us fortified. Conversations on the dock in the sun (but sometimes the clouds, wind and downright cold breeze) about everything and nothing. Long, slow boat rides to nowhere special and back. And, of course, great evening meals together followed by bonfires, s\'mores and rousing sing alongs. There were a few visits to Westport where we all played games on the sand during low tide. Fires on the beach we were not supposed to have. A visit to the Gap because Kara had to have a yellow rain jacket just like the one I had. And a time or two she came to visit us in Westport from school, just to touch hearts. Because she was that way. And the wonderful trips to Trinity where we met her new friends, watched great field hockey games, gathered in small dorm rooms, relived our own college experiences and increasingly saw the world through Kara\'s hopeful and determined eyes...and heart. The memories, of course, go on and on. Just like her infectious love, laughter...and spirit. I surely miss Kara. My love to all of you...especially on this day. Jim | |
